What makes this PS3 special?
Ships on 3.55 official firmware. This firmware version accepts custom firmware installation without requiring a downgrade or additional patching. Note that 3.55 does not support current PSN sign-in without updating firmware first.

The 40nm RSX installed greatly improves this model PS3's reliability, as the most common failure point with these models is the original 90nm RSX, which shipped with a design flaw from the factory. By replacing the original RSX with a newer revision that has been designed and manufactured correctly, you can expect this backwards compatible PS3 to have the same level of reliability as a PS3 slim. In addition, since the newer 40nm RSX is more power efficient, you can also expect this PS3 to consume less energy and operate significantly cooler and quieter.

Having all NEC TOKIN capacitors replaced will ensure the processors receive clean power for many more years to come. This will ensure that your system is capable of playing the most graphically intensive games such as GTA, The Last Of Us, Gran Turismo, etc for many more years to come. These replacement capacitors are always ordered brand new from reputable sources such as Mouser or Digikey and properly installed.

A new clock battery will ensure that your PS3 will not forget the time and that you'll be able to play your digital PSN content without any issues for many more years to come. The clock battery's connector was also modified so that when the time comes to replace it again, you can easily replace it with any off the shelf CR2032 battery commonly found at your local retail stores.

All functionality other than the disc drive has been fully tested and confirmed working, including USB, SD card, HDMI, AV, Optical audio, Ethernet, WiFi, and Bluetooth connectivity. This model is compatible with PS1, PS2, and PS3 games, but requires a digital copy / backup to play them, or a working disc drive.

Accessories provided with this system will include a power cable and HDMI cable.
